New England Journal has published an article today (available here) about the potential of community health center – academic health center partnerships. These would utilize the new Teaching Health Centers and:

combine the best qualities of AMCs and CHCs to serve economically disadvantaged patients who have a high incidence of chronic conditions. CHAMPs would immediately boost CHC capacity and expand access to primary care, while enlarging the training pipeline for primary care providers.

It would be possible for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation to create these. I, for one, think the idea is very exciting.
