I was invited to write a column regarding the need to accept the expansion of Medicaid by the local paper/web portal (found here). The arguements (getting more money means more jobs, having an effective health care infrastucture means more jobs, having a healthier work force means more jobs) make sense. I have to admit that this picture:

Gave me pause as to whether as all the other states slowly succumb to the siren song of increased dollars offered by Medicaid, we would as well. We seem to have been fairly consistent about resisting  “Lottery.”

I am going to take the next several days off for Mardi Gras, one of the things we are good at on the Gulf Coast.
